-The Albanian Students Sports Association was created on April of 2000 with the decision Nr.936 of the Judicial District Court of Tirana on 7.04.2000.
-Its aim is organizing sporting activities at local, national and international level; the education of students through sporting activities; the realization of research in the field of university sport; the improvement of university sporting infrastructure.
-ASSA is a member of the Albanian Olympic Committee since 2005 and collaborates with the University of Sports of Tirana and other universities.
-On the international dimension, it is a member of FISU (International University Sports Federation) and EUSA (European University Sports Association) since 2005.
-Associated with this organization are several national and international sporting activities organized with students in different disciplines.
-Sporting activities in different disciplines with the students of the University of Tirana.
-The First Nationwide Sports Universiade with the participation of students from the Universities of Tirana, Pristina and Tetovo in six sports disciplines (basketball: males and females, volleyball, football, athletics, skiing and chess)
-In collaboration with the University of Sports of Tirana, was organized the National Universiade with the participation of fourteen universities throughout the country (June 2011)
-On the international level since 2001 with the name of this organization is connected the participation of Albania in the Summer International Sports Universiades (Beijing 2001, Daegu 2003, Izmir 2005, Bangkok 2007, Belgrade 2009, Shenzhen 2011)
-Also in the international level, the participation in EUSA’s sports championships (Spain 2006) and in Karate World Championship organized by FISU (Montenegro 2010)
-In scientific conferences organized by FISU in collaboration with the academic staff of the participative universities, Albania has taken part with the president of the ASSA’s speech(oral presentation) treating several scientific subject concerning university sports in Albania such as:
“Sports and religion in the Albanian reality”, Izmir 2005
“Social reflections about university sports in Albania”, 2009
“The ethical curricula-an appropriate step to education through sports”, Shenzhen 2001
-Since 2011, through ASSA, the Albanian university sport has been represented in all the General Assemblies organized by FISU and EUSA with the status of observer till 2003. In 2005, Albania became a full right member of FISU (The General Assembly of FISU, Izmir 2005) and of EUSA (General Assembly of EUSA, Vroslav 2005).
-In collaboration with the University of Sports of Tirana and other public and private universities, ASSA works to enliven the student sports life through organizing sports activities in different universities of the country and is planning to organize a nationwide universiade with the participation of albanian universities in Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and Macedonia.
